Description

This is the fifth and latest edition of the nostalgic album dedicated to the unparalleled photos of the island of Santorini from the lens of internationally renowned Greek photographer Nelly’s. The book offers the reader the chance to get to know the woman hidden behind the phenomenon Nelly’s and to understand the importance of her photographs for the time taken. The photographs are considered documents for future generations both from an artistic but also from an architectural point of view, since they picture the island’s townscape before the devastating earthquake of 1956. Nelly’s is not only famous for her well known photographs published on the cover of Life Magazine in 1940 but also of her insistence on making something unprecedented for the time, to become the first female photographer who not only succeeded but also excelled abroad.
